Belfast Airport Information
Belfast International Airport (BFS)
With over four million passengers passing through its doors every year, Belfast International Airport is Northern Ireland’s leading air hub and is considered to be a gateway to the region. Transatlantic flights from North America as well as many European destinations are handled by the airport’s single terminal.
Belfast International Airport has one well-equipped terminal that handles all domestic and international flights, with many major airlines flying to and from the airport from destinations as far afield as Canada and the Caribbean, with Continental and EasyJet handling the majority of flights. The airport’s recently upgraded departures lounges can be found on the first floor, while Arrivals is located on the ground floor.
Visitors are provided with excellent facilities at Belfast International Airport, with a good choice of shopping and dining options spread throughout the terminal building. The main information desk can be found in the Arrivals hall alongside currency exchange and ATM facilities. Also available are baby-changing rooms, a children’s play area and postal services. The airport also offers excellent facilities for disabled visitors and wheelchair accessible toilets and telephones are both provided.
Passengers looking for business services should head for the Bank of Ireland Business Lounge, which offers refreshments as well as telephone, fax and internet facilities. Belfast city has a range of hotels to suit every budget; many including the Europa Hotel in the city centre, which is just one of many popular choices, offer business services.
Transport and parking at Belfast Airport
Running every 30 minutes between Belfast International Airport and Belfast Central Station, the Airbus provides a convenient service into the city, while the Airporter coach service runs hourly to Londonderry. Passengers wanting a more comfortable ride can catch a cab from outside the terminal; sample fares are posted near the terminal’s exit. For train connections to destinations within Northern Ireland, catch the Antrim Airlink shuttle bus to nearby Antrim Station, a regular high speed service to Dublin that operates from Belfast Central Station.
There are three official car parks that are open 24 hours at Belfast International Airport, all of which provide excellent security. Visitors dropping off or picking up passengers should use the short-stay car park, where charges don’t apply for the first 15 minutes, while visitors staying for up to four days should head to the main car park; both are within walking distance of the terminal building. To avoid delays, online booking is available for the long-stay car park, which is dedicated to stays of over four days, while designated disabled persons’ parking spaces are provided at all of the airport’s car parks.
